Description
Mountlong Castle is located on the eastern bank of the Belgooly estuary near Kinsale in County Cork.

The castle is a ruined stronghouse three storeys tall with an attic level. The plan is rectangular with a tower at each corner. The towers on the east side are still standing, but the towers on the western side have partly collapsed. Much of the walls joining the towers still stand. Some of the windows have gun loops under the sills.

History
Mountlong Castle was built by John Long in 1631. The castle was not occupied long before it was burnt down during the Irish Confederate Wars in the 1640s.
