near Tourin and Mount Rivers, County Waterford, Ireland
Tourin Castle is located in the grounds of Tourin House near the river Blackwater about 3 miles south of Cappoquin in County Waterford.
The castle is a ruined tower house within the Tourin Demesne. The better known Tourin House and Gardens is also on the same estate.
Tourin House and Gardens are open to the public daily from February to June and from September to November. The gardens are well known for their displays of azalea, magnolia and rhododendrons and woodland walks amongst oaks, cedars and conifers. The gardens are at their best from March to May.
Tourin Castle is believed to date from the early 17th century by the Roche family. The castle was sold to Richard Musgrave in 1780. A Georgian house, also now in ruins, was attached to the original tower.
The "new" Tourin House was built in 1840, and used stone from the original Georgian house.
